The DNA School

To inform as many people as possible about this rapidly evolving ‘science of DNA’ and to inspire vocations by showcasing research and its careers, from fundamental research to pharmaceuticals: this is the goal of the DNA’s School.

Founded in 2005 and based on the original concept of the DNA’s school in Nîmes, Genethon’s DNA School has developed several tools to facilitate the understanding of life sciences, particularly DNA and its applications in biotechnology. Its purpose is to inform a broad audience about this “DNA science” which evolves particularly quickly, and to elicit vocational interest by presenting its research and its professions.

Hands-on experience is at the heart of these workshops and activities.
Participants will use techniques ranging from DNA extraction to analysis with laboratory tools.
Many topics can be addressed: genetic diseases, prenatal diagnosis, genetic fingerprints, gene therapy, stem cells, careers in drug development, and more.

You can also access to all our educational materials..

You are a cultural actor, a library, a forum/festival organizer, or a shopping center

Here are the offers we can provide:

Escape room

You will dive into the heart of research and navigate the complexities of biotechnology. Through immersive experience, you will solve puzzles to treat a patient with a rare genetic disease.

You will immerse yourself in an oversized cell with a diameter of 4 meters! Curious individuals will engage in all their senses to explore how a human cell functions.

Take a stroll along the path to medication through the exploration and discovery of 10 stations featuring laboratory objects to manipulate.

You will quickly visualize one of the most debated scientific mysteries present in popular culture in recent years: your DNA.

You are a teacher, a university, an educational institution, or an academy

The AFM-Téléthon also organizes an annual initiative called ‘1000 Researchers in Schools,’ which allows you to host a researcher for free in your institution.

Through a meeting with a scientific expert, this awareness event for students from 9th grade to high school aims to introduce them to the world of research, its careers, and the challenges of developing innovative biomedicines for rare diseases and for the general population.

You are an association for patients affected by genetic diseases, a public health agency/service, a hospital, or a training center for medical staff
